Quoted from Acheron:
Quoted from vissario:
Quoted from Dimi:
Quoted from vissario: What do you expect from a country which will grant people time in jail for calling someone a "fag" or a "jew"?
Enlightened discourse and maturity?
He hasn't won anything, someone could file the same suit in this country.
Yeah, but unlike "this country", one has a chance of winning in Europe. Germany, like so many other "progressive nations" in the EU, has laws strictly curtailing anything even deemed mildly offensive towards "protected minorities" of which this man (the elderly) is a part of. Basically, an ivory tower in the land known as Political Correctness.
Anyways, the problem is far deeper than this man's misgivings about being denied easy sex. People who are considered "special" by the government have special rights granted to them by the government. If you are a Jew, a homosexual, a woman, or a person of any religion other than Christianity, you automatically reserve the right to call any who criticizes you an anti-Semite, a homophobe, a sexist, or a bigot no matter what their content was. Even further, you then have the right to take them to court over that allegation, real or not, and effectively have them and their message censored by the popular media and governmental regime for that (racist) imputation, real or not. Really, do you think Ernst Zundel, for example, was a pus-spitting anti-Semite like he was portrayed by the media? Or was he just part of a witch-hunt to silence any popular disdain for the accepted version of the Holocaust?
The brainwashing going on in Europe really ranks among the glories of socialism as realized in 1984.
The tragedy of Vissario is that he brings up valid points, but he writes with enough venom that it destroys the credibility of every statement he makes.
It's like Michael Moore an Fahrenheit 911. There were a lot of facts in that movie, but the presentation turned them into propaganda.
If he'd said something along the lines of
"I don't know. A suit like this worries me because of the track record in Germany. The Race/Bigot card is played many times when it shouldn't be. When an Anglo criticizes the American policy on Israel, for example, and gets taken to town as an antisemite, the suit fails in America. Would it have failed in Germany, I wonder?"
Same point, less venom, more convincing.
You know, maybe it was the venom and the way he argued against Israel that got him sued in the first place!
My message is "venomous" because I don't water it down with PC drivel. Really, you are a case-in-point for my point, Acheron; whenever people like you see a statement which is "offensive" to anyone deemed specially important, you immediately ignore the message and go on an ad hominem spree to both discredit the person, and more importantly, the message behind it. It is irrelevant to you whether or not I made a good point in what I said; what is relevant, however, is if I did it in a way to make people not question their own moral imperatives. To make “special” people actually think that maybe they aren’t special in any shape or form.
Did I make a gay feel sad for shoving his sexuality down the throats of others?
Did I make a Jew not feel like a special person solely because of his “Jewishness”?
Did I make a woman not feel like she was entitled to special treatment for all the past evils of "my kind"?
That kind of bullshit is easily the greatest threat to free thought, expression, and representative government in the West. Not the commandments of Allah, the words of some tin-pot dictator like Ahmadenijad, and certainly not some Holocaust deniers. So once again, Orwell wasn't too far off from the mark when he said that Western civilization is going to slowly devolve into a few accepted opinions. Further, he even predicted that they would be almost exclusively the ones supported by the government!
