Well, it that time of year when all the music and movie websites and magazines are making year-end best of lists, so I figured we could see what INTL thought was the best. Feel free to post your own lists, as long or short as you'd like, for albums, songs, books, movies, games, or whatever. If we get enough response maybe I'll make a weighted average list for all of INTL or something.

Movies:
The Onion AV Club / Metacritic / Rolling Stone / Slant Magazine[/w]
I'm gonna hold off on making a movie list, because I am yet to see most of the big movies of this year.

Books:
The Onion AV Club / Slate / The Seattle Times / Time / Metacritic
I don't think I've read a single book published in 2006.

TV Shows:
[w]Metacritic

My List:
[w]Note: I don't get HBO, so I haven't seen any 2006 HBO shows, some of which would likely be on my list had I seen them.

1. Battlestar Galactica
2. The Colbert Report
3. The Daily Show
4. Scrubs
5. Lost
6. South Park
7. The Office
8. Stargate SG-1
9. Friday Night Lights
10. ER
11. Stargate Atlantis
12. Eureka (added in an edit because I forgot it)

Video games:
[w]Metacritic / IGN / GameSpot / The Onion AV Club

I don't really play any games so I can't comment on this.

Now post your lists, argues about each other's lists, and talk about how stupid the critics that made the lists I posted (and others) are.

Album - The Crane Wife by The Decemberists
Book - jPod by Douglas Coupland
Movie - Pirates of the Caribbean II
Video game - Star Wars Lego II

These are my top choices by default, as they're actually the only new releases that I caught in 2006.

Go for it. There have been some real stinkers this year.

PS- Say Anything's album/track was released in 2004, it just didn't become a radio hit until this year.

Slant has good lists to read, though I haven't yet.

http://www.slantmagazine.com/film/features/2006yearinfilm.asp

Here's all I can recall seeing for movies that came out this year, in order of what I liked the best, I guess

Clerks 2, I've moved on from being in love with Kevin Smith, so I wasn't in a big fanboy mood when I saw it. It was hysterical, but more than that it brought me back to that love, and it was really moving.

The Science of Sleep, great filmmaking, and the story secretly broke my heart. I can't wait to see it again.

Volver, this was a really nice movie. A lot of the humor comes from the culture that I'm not a part of, so I didn't get a lot of what a lot of other people I saw it with got, but it was a lot of fun, and Penelope Cruz has never been more gorgeous....at least from what I've seen her in.

Click, I love Adam Sandler, he brings warmth and life appreciation to every movie he's in, still this movie went far beyond where I was expecting it to go, and of all his Adam Sandler movies, this is his most epic, or this is his epic.

Wassup Rockers, this doesn't really count as it came out last year, but it didn't have much of a release, and it just came out on dvd. This is from Larry Clark, of Kids, Bully, and Ken Park. Wassup is in line with Clark's other films, though here it's more a depiction of the sweet side of these kinds of kids. It also turns into a Warriors remake, is loads of fun.

Final Destination 3, the first was surprisingly great, tarrifying and moving, the second was nasty dark fun, and the third is a little bit less, just more sick creative ways for people to die in freak accidents. I had fun watching it.

I'm entertained, but I'd rather be enlightened.

If Click would've ended  at the part where sandlers character is an old man crying out for his son after falling in the rain (I think he was dieing)... ...then, then it would be one of the best films i've ever seen.

It was still alright, just not as good as it could've been.

Jackass Number Two was pretty good. Though to be honest since I know Spike Jonze is behind it I have a feeling the entire show and movies are all fiction. The mans a master at that sorta thing.

I agree, even though when I saw it, I was hoping for it to end the way it did, so I could keep from crying in front of my friend and looking like a baby, though it would have been worth it, would have been his masterpeice...

Damn, when did that happen? I thought they wouldn't put out anything after the drummer killed himself and all that (after some research it seems this is it, they won't go on). I must have this album.

Oh, we can count re-releases as best of 2006 material? In that case I nominate every single photo of snowy from the picture threads as best photo of the year.

Did you know about it two years ago? I dont see them mentioned on any of your old lists. Far as im concerned, this is the year i first heard and responded to it and i only would have discovered it this time around. BTW you sound really bitchy in your response, im giggling.

But they werent rereleased in the form I referenced and became my top single for 2006, Brad. This one was, and it has a release date of 2006 and it's when i first encountered it. Sheesh you're tense....you gonna go release that soon or wha?

I can't help it, it was released in 2005 and I spent so many anal days making my list based on strict criteria!

I'll give you credit because the single was released in Dec. 2005. However, the Royksopp album with the single on it was available on FTP from July 2005.

I'll come back to making a list. I'm not good at picking favorites, but I'll try tomorrow when I wake up.

Hey, guys, let's stop arguing about that because it's retarded. If enough people make lists to make an aggregate INTL list, then I probably won't count rereleases, but as of right now it doesn't look like enough people will respond to make that happen anyway, so the criteria don't have to be that strict.
