Instead of doing a "new years resolutions" thread, thought it might be worth it looking at the even bigger picture:
- what are the things you'd like to do before you die?
- do you have any dreams that you would like to aspire to?
- do you have any goals you're aiming for?
- are you doing anything to achieve these dreams/goals?

1)buy and live in a castle complete with moat, serfs, automated defense systems, and starved attack dogs which can be remotely released
2)take a bicycling trip from Lisboa to Constantinople to Moscow and then to Dublin
3)buy or make a child who will become the antichrist
- no
- to run my own business and become indepedently wealthy
- yes

Ok, well, I'm bad at goals but here's some bucketlist things:

1. play music in a band
2. actually publish a novel
3. hike the john muir trail

I guess my biggest goal right now is to survive and to give my kids the best life possible.

Wouldn't having malnourished dogs make them poor in terms of defending whatever you need them to defend? Wouldn't it be better to feed and care for them as living organisms and train them well to defend?

1. Find a career/livelihood that allows for freedom to travel or live how I want, set my own hours and not have to take orders from someone else
2. Keep traveling, I've had a trip in mind for years to India, Nepal, and Burma that I'd like to go on still.
3. Live and work at a Vipassana Meditation center long-term (6 months to a year or longer)
4. Start a business on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua and live there for 5 years, probably a bed and breakfast with a studio for doing whatever career I end up doing.

When I was younger I wanted to come up with some math theories and have them published in math journals. I had a few embarrassing failed attempts to do this when I was younger, but recently I've had success with this on the mathematical physics side of things. It's a good feeling.

Classic case of post-modern conditioning in this statement.

Whereas modern people are accustomed to needing everything to be optimal in their lives for them before they do their 'best' work, wild things, on the other hand, are often at their prime when the stakes are at their highest and the conditions most adverse. A starving dog is never going to reflect on the fact that the odds were against it and, therefore, it could not succeed. It will either triumph and survive or disappear.

I hate to pick on everything you post but are you sure he didn't just mean that a malnourished dog's muscles literally won't be as strong as a well-fed dogs and that without proper nutrition the dog may not even have the energy required to defend rather than the dog having some sort of existential crisis wrt it's miserable life?

My dream is to buy an RV to live in and visit different places. Since I'll likely never be wealthy enough to do that, I'll focus on more realistic things!

-Travel
-Eventually live somewhere nicer with Matt and spend my life with him.
-Play more board games.
-Study something new. I don't know what yet, but I am currently looking into Tai Chi
-Try to be a better person for the good people around me, who I am very fortunate to have in my life.
-Come to terms with the passing of my best friend (who knows if that will ever happen, but I hope one day I can.)

I can't think of anything else I actually have a set goal to do. Mostly, I just want to experience life as it comes, have a lot of fun, and see people around me be happy and well.
You make me sick
Because I adore you so.

Tai Chi is awesome. It's one of those low impact things like yoga where it is totally relaxing but by the end of it you are like "Damn, that was actually somehow a workout because I am sore and tired."

My bucket list:

Find a job I look forward to going to every morning (get the hell out of retail)
Travel to Lebanon, India, England, Germany, and Cuba
Take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) basic course and take a cross-country trip on the motorcycle
Be a homeowner
Have and raise a son
