Let's talk about Dr. Who!

Potential discussion topics: Why Matt Smith is obviously the best Doctor, why Karen Gillan is the perfect second wife, what you think about this new guy.

Non potential discussion topics: Dr... who?

Matt Smith wasn't as lighthearted and witty. I like when the doctor has that quality.

Matt Smith bugs me, I prefer Tenet. I also like that Scottish guy before him.

I actually thought Matt Smith was funnier and brought more of the second doctor into the mix. I also think the love setup with the first companion from the new series (I forgot her name) was really forced though and I think that has a lot to do with why I liked Matt Smith better.

Yeah, except there was that one episode where they brought her back and she had had some work done on her lips that was NOT working for her.

Zippo speaks the truth. I do have a soft spot in my heart for 9, though, because he was my first.

Now this is where we disagree. I thought Matt Smith played too much of the goofy man child, where Tennant was more serious.

I have a horrible confession to make. I've never actually seen Dr. Who (other than an episode or two) and have no idea where to start.

Dimi, stick it out it gets better. I think some people who jump into the show are a little bit put off by the overall "camp" of it. The camp is part of the charm though and it works but you kind of have to get used to it.

Also the first doctor in the reboot wasn't all that great.

Eccleston is a treasure, how dare you.

Also, dimi, if you can get through the first two seasons of TNG you can get through this.

Stick it out until you get significantly into Tennant's run, at least.

I was of course kidding about dismissing a show after 10 minutes. I believe that I would like it if I stuck it out, I just don't think I'm ready to do that yet.

Yeah, and after doing that I spent like a year (or more?) working through the entire Star Trek catalog. I can't take on a project like that again. Not yet anywya.

You'll never be a complete nerd until you master the trinity.

Star Trek - Star Wars - Dr. Who

Hmm, I forgot about Firefly. What's a trinity, but, like, four? Quadrinity?

Excuse me, you better not be forgetting about Battlestar Galactica.

Actually forget I said anything, last time I brought up Battlestar I learned that I was on a forum full of battlestar haters.

Also I feel like real nerds watch Stargate and Babylon 5. I plan to watch Babylon 5 some day, since I'm told it's like a better version of DS9... I just can't shake my childhood perception that Babylon 5 was "the ugly Star Trek."

I watched a bit of Babylon 5 when it was on the air. My mom was a fan. It's pretty good.

And I really like BSG, haven't seen all of it yet though.

Also, total Stargate fanboy.

I liked BSG but famously fell out of watching it for whatever reason. I got kind of bored with it oddly enough.

ANYWAYS. Back on topic.

Opinions on this past season?  How crazy is it the master came back? And that heartbreaking ending when Gallifrey wasn't there??
