seems like a pretty clear signal to me! I recall that most of the secrets in the game were telegraphed by old man clue and that was really how you found all the weird shit without guides.

Three dungeons in.

Anyway, I think I should be able to finish it this weekend thanks to the holiday. Spent a while playing today and yesterday and think I am ~75% of the way through.

I suppose I'll also try to force myself to make some progress on Killzone Liberation. Ugh. It's like a twin stick shooter that's missing one of the sticks.

Yeah but that's the point at which you have enough heart containers to get the sword right?

Quoted from emtilt:
also its heart container requirements are just transparent attempts at artificially lengthening the game, and they really detract from it.

Minor note: This game definitely has the terrible translation into English problem that many early games had.

The only game I ever actually enjoyed was Rome: Total War. Even then, I'd only play it for the opportunity to demolish cities from 45,000 residents to less than 6,000 through repeated sacks. The entire game stuck me as a nihilistic reflection on Carl von Clauswitz's theories on the pratical application and purpose of war.

The excess of the game was in its absurd suspension of disbelief. As a quick example, the game presupposes that any of the listed factions, despite any historical realism to the contrary, could have theoretically conquered Europe, the near East, and Northern Africa had they been lead by a suitable omnipotent, all-knowing commander. My favorite faction to play as was the Parthians of modern-day Iran. Could they, a fractuous, unstable kingdom in the hotbead of the Middle East, really have showed up at the walls of Rome with thousands of horse archers, cataphracts, and mounted camels?

No argument here, lol. I'm playing through this game again and I've decided that Level 7 is the worst designed level so far. I'm not sure which is my favorite. It might be level 5 but tha manji is a really interesting shape for a level because of the way it splits off in the middle so it might be level 3.

Also fuck wizzrobes so it's not level 6 >=(

I should add that I really like the levels with multiple paths through them so the ones with lots of walls you can bomb are generally very good. Level 7 is like that but there are several things about it that make it terrible anyway.

Rome II is on sale on steam for 15.00 for another few hours. I bought it last night and played it for the first time today. It's a lot like Rome but looks nicer.

Wizzrobes are fucking hard. I was breezing through the dungeons until they showed up. My approach has become walking in an out of rooms repeatedly and picking them off one by one as they spawn with a ranged sword blast thingy.

That's exactly how I handle them. The red ones are easy enough but the blue ones with their unpredictable zooming around are so frustrating.

I have a hard time with the blue knights too (I don't remember what they're called).

Right?! I really liked that you can play two player with each person looking at their own screen. What other Wii U games have you been playing?

Yes! That is a great feature. I don't have a -ton- of games for it but the list: Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin, Zelda Wind Waker, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Monster Hunter (super fun), Scribblenauts (adorable and fun and educational!), Mario Kart. I bought a Zumba game, too, because why not, and I got it on sale. I also still have my regular Wii games because backwards compatibility is pretty cool (fuck you, Microsoft).
