Well, this isn't that serious of a subject, but I don't feel like posting this in Inside Discussions for fear that it will turn into a debate about porn or corpses or something like that.

Anyway, I was just curious as to what your favorite movies are.

As for me, mine include the following, in no particular order:

Boondock Saints
Orgazmo
Requiem For a Dream
Fight Club
Usual Suspects
Heat
Seven
Memento
Shawshank Redemption
...and a few others that I can't think of off the top of my head right now.

So go ahead and tell us what your favorite movies are, so that next time I'm at the videostore looking for movies, I can use this thread as a reference point.

Blood: The Last Vampire was damn good. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was so fucking short of a movie. I felt let down when it was over. I wanted more.

In fact, I think I'm going to watch Boondock Saints again once I post this. Haven't seen it in a while.

I didn't like that about it initially, but the abrupt ending did offer the realism of the events unfolding in a single night. Kind of a cool final effect for the viewer, if you watch it a few times.

I thought Magnolia was an awesome movie when I saw it in the threatre. I saw it three times in the threatre and then bought it. Although, after watching it about 30 times, I kind of got burnt out on it. It's still a good movie the first few times you see it (especially the recurring biblical references), but kind of like The Matrix, after a while, it loses it's luster, IMO.

Oh yeah. I forgot about American Beauty and American History X.

Damn ... I don't think I have ever watched a movie 30 times. The closest I came would probably be Shawshank Redemption ... watched that like 10 times.

My g/f rented K-Pax and The One for us to watch this week. The One is entertaining if you like visual tricks. They don't even attempt to make it look real. The plot pretty much sucks, but most of those movies do.

As for K-Pax, I was very surprised. It didn't make my top three list, but I thought that it was very good. It wasn't all about aliens or anything ... but most of it took place in a mental institution. Spacey claimed to be an alien, and through numerous discussions with his psychiatrist he brought out some differences in ideology between Earth and K-Pax. Some interesting and good insight. Plus i LOVE Kevin Spacey ... I mean, look what he has been in ... Seven, American Beauty, Usual Suspects ... three movies already mentioned on this board.

Braveheart
The Matrix
Gladiator
Spaceballs
The Princess Bride
Happy Gilmore
Clue
The Fellowship of the Ring
American Beauty - I actually haven't seen the whole movie. My parents have told me I'm not allowed to watch it, so I've only seen parts of it that I watched while I was home alone. I've seen about half of it, and I like it so far.

There's a lot of movies I haven't seen yet but I think I might like. Most of the ones you guys listed.

I usually end up liking many movies...so I can't really say they are my favorites. For I have never had one movie that I liked more then any other one. But here is a list of movies I enjoyed:

(In order of Date)
-The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
-Shrek (2001)
-Chocolat (2000)
-Memento (2000)
-Coyote Ugly (2000)
-Stigmata (1999)
-Evita (1996)
-The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
-Legends of the Fall (1994)
-Braveheart (1994)
-Alive (1993)
-Ghost (1990)
-Phantom of the Opera (1989)
-Sixteen Candles (1984)
-Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
-The Godfather (1972)
-Seven Samurai (1954)
-The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
-Gone with the Wind (1939)

And some movies I can't recall the names of at this moment.i'm a serial-killer :)
They all have different reasons. I might have only enjoyed the screenplay in one, while I enjoyed the character development in another.

Yeah. K-Pax was a great movie. I watched it a couple weeks ago and thought it was a great movie. Yes, Kevin Spacey does kick ass.

Quoted from ice:
SLC Punk

Not one of my favorites, but still a great movie. I was able to relate to it, since I once considered myself punk, but the people I know that never were in the punk subculture didn't really like it that much.

I just thought it was fucking cool. Like, I guess I could relate to it more than some of my friends but that didn't really have anything to do with my liking it, I think.

I'll probably edit this, 'cause I always forget a whole bunch of things in lists like these, but hey.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Velvet Goldmine
Night on the Galactic Railroad
Princess Mononoke
La Tour Montparnasse Infernale
Lola Rennt (pussinboots totally reminded me.)
Metropolis

The last one refers to the animated movie based on Tezuka's comics series, by the way, not an older movie... :x I think _La Tour..._ is called _Don't Die Too Hard_ in its English-subbed version.
