Yeah.

I always imagined there was an entire world of evil in the sewer system, controlled by a sinister being called the Sewer King. He sent out his minions to kidnap unsuspecting children. I never took my eyes of the toilet drain until I was about twelve years old.

Ah, and then was the troll/drug addict/ghost standing outside my window, just staring at me. If I moved, he'd know I was there and kill me.

So, what things were you afraid of?

For a few years I had a strange and violent aversion to being driven by lakes. I used to scream in the backseat of the car and generally go crazy. I had been having weird dreams where I was in the middle of one of our very deep glacier-created lakes and could feel something lurking down there in the depths.

I was also terrified of a spectoral figure that stalked the outside of our house, trying to find ways to penetrate the defenses of my fortress and 'do' stuff to me. I did the whole 'hide under your covers and it cant get you' thing until I discovered a little daring and dangled my bare foot over the side of the bed to taunt whatever slithered about my night time floor.

Aliens.

The grey variety, vulcans, mayans, whatever you want to call them. They scared me senseless. I remember desperately refusing to go to our cabin in Maine for 4 years in vain because I was afraid that the Greys would come and stare into my window, then abduct me.

That always was the most terrifying image, a grey alien staring in your window, something about anything staring inside a window makes you feel so..trapped.

Anyways, after 10 years of restless nights, I gave up being scared of them when I was about 14.

I used to be frightened by virtually any loud noise, particularly fireworks. I could not watch fireworks without my hands firmly clasped over my ears.

I was also afraid of being institutionalized. I think, once or twice, my parents must have made an empty threat to have me "taken away from them," and it grew into a major fear.

And, of course, monsters of various forms would occasionally scare me. Sometimes it would be one I'd see in a book or on TV, but often they were of my own design, and would manifest in my dreams and daydreams. A couple examples would be monsters that were "faces" in a wooden wall, or a quick-moving green monster who looked like the Grinch wearing a deep sea diving helmet.

I had those faces in the wall as well. They talked to me, but I never understood what they said. They also had long arms that grabbed you, and sharp teeth that were visible only from a short distance.

I was very afraid of spectral figures reflected on the door of my room.

I was also scared by the possibility of being kidnapped by a gang of criminals who would commercialize my organs.

Things scared me only at certain times. My first sleepover ever was across the street, for some reason I just ran out, and when I was running home it was dark and I thought the devil was lurking in the shadows along with all his minions or something. The door ended up being locked. So I was afraid of the dark for a while after that. Under my bed was another one, or basiclly anywhere you hung your feet down. I thought something was going to grab my ankles or cut them or something. Also, bridges, it was just because my dad was and I was being cute and pretending I was afraid of them as well, but I actually developed a fear, I am still afraid of bridges. did anyone keep a fear they had since childhood?

For a while I was afraid of wolves, and would have dreams about packs of wolves descending on me, and devouring me. Ripping my arms off and such. I remember doing the "Hide under the covers." thing, and leaving an airhole. In one dream I can specifically remember, I saw their feet through the hole. Then I discovered the shotgun, and found that since my dreams were in my head, I could conciously manipulate them. I've not had a nightmare since. That was when I was eight I think.

i was (and still am) terrified of roaches. I like lady bugs and moths, and I can deal with spiders, but I will scream like nothin' else if I see a roach. I used to be afraid that the roaches we flushed down the toilet would come back through the drains, and I'm still wary of drains. I also had a strong aversian to monkeys, based on a bad experience with them. Now I just don't much care for them.

Robert Stack's voice:
Now, I'm not talking about Unsolved Mysteries, as that show never really impressed me much, but that man had a voice which sent shivers down my back.

Clowns:
I wasn't necessarily afraid of clowns, I just tried to avoid them. See Ronald McDonald? Shift to the other side of the restaurant. See a carnivale clown? Run away. See a clown on TV? Change the channel. I still try to avoid them, same with mimes.

Abyss:
Being sick when I was younger, I used to have hallucinations. These hallucinations often involved my surroundings: walls/ceilings collapsing on top of me and not being able to breathe, knives floating in mid-air coming after me (which helped insinuate another childhood 'fear'), and the abyss. The abyss could be best described as being pulled into nothing. I could see everything around me, but I couldn't do anything. All I remember is black - there was no light only those visions of outside the abyss. Whenever I'd try to grasp onto those visions, I would be driven further and further away.

Knives:
For the longest time I hated knives. Not the small knives, or the ones you carry around with you, I mean the big fucking jagged knives which are a foot long. Unsurprisingly, I was cut numerous times by knives when I was younger - even to the point where one of those big jagged knives went right through my hand.

There's more, but I can't really think of them much anymore. Most of them I now laugh at.

I can't remember a time when I wasn't afraid of heights.

As a kid, though, I remember being scared of loud noises in the dark. I didn't mind the dark. In fact, I liked, and still prefer, the dark. But loud noises in the house when it was silent (such as the toilet flushing, or the sound of the laundry machine or something) creeped me out as a kid, and I'd to my bed and cover myself with a blanket.

I was always afraid that there was a hand that would grab me on my way to bed every night. So when I would turn off the lights, I would try to jump in bed from as far away as I could to avoid that hand. I never even wondered what the hand might be attached to nor did I care.

I was constantly afraid of death and of having different diseases, like cancer or any of the other deadly illnesses that exist.

I still am, actually.

Oh i was also completely fucking paranoid, and that hasn't actually stopped, either.
Like, i'll think people are trying to poison me and shit and get all freaked out.

I was scared of a few things at different times. I was scared of the dark and used to think ghosts would come and get me then also the other normal things like witches under my bed.
Then i used to be scared i had a barin tumer for about two years.
Then i was scared of my doll that when you turned it on it played back what you said in it's own voice. I used to love it though, until i saw an add for a chucky movie and looked at the back of one of the movies in the video store. After that my doll (which was about the right size) freaked me out so much i made my mother chuck it away, or it would obviously come at me in the middle of the night with a dager clutched in its hand.
