Well, I realize this has already been done previously sometime, but considering that the demographics are different, it didn't seem that bad to bring it up. I am in the process of rewriting a portion of the pre-INTL History in the FAQ, and seeing how it's HeavenGames centric (when there's some INTL forumers who didn't even know what HG was prior to INTL), it seems appropriate to make it less HG centric.

I am curious in specific about your individual net history. Where did you visit before you came to INTL (Ie. Spankmag, koolplace, HG, SPSW, SA, etc.)? Why did you come to INTL? How did you discover INTL (Ie. Google, another forumer, invitation, etc.)? In that previous place before INTL, when did you register or what was your nickname(s)? When did you start using the internet, and why? Is there anything else on the net which you have or currently spend a lot of time on (Ie. Other forums, clans, livejournal, AOL Chat, personal website, etc.)?

Prior to INTL, I was a forummer at HG. I found HG looking for something to do with AoE. I also lurked at SPSW, but I never posted alot. My screen name at both places is emtilt, though I had another screenname at HG prior to that which I posted with only once or twice. I've forgotten what it was, now. I came to INTL at the very beginning a couple days after Sandamnit first opened it up. Someone told me about it and invited me over, don't recall who.

Before HG I had never forummed anywhere, except for rare and random posts on support boards and stuff. I first started using the internet alot when I was in fifth grade or so (1998 or 1997?). INTL is pretty much the only place I forum at alot now, though I've been to a number of forums over the years, but not too consistently. I also check in at Sardonic Grin pretty often, but that forum isn't too active (at all).

Quoted from Sunny:

I found KP several years ago through their online quizzes. (lol) I drew some pictures of Grant and Ed, sent them to them, and started posting shortly thereafter. (I should also say that shorty after I started posting at KP I started to regularly read HG, but never posted there.)

Dani (Peach) posted at KP and I heard about INTL from her.

I think originally it was Canada1196 or something like that, but when they re-did the fourms I changed it to Accipiter.

Oh gosh, I started using the internet...years and years ago. I don't even remember. I remember the reason -why- I used it was for AIM, to chat with my friends.

INTL is my first and only board. I've tried a few others, but I could never stand them.

I started here after seeing Joel (NNY) go here often.

INTL is the only message board ive stayed on. Most times I just spam them to death cause trouble and leave.

A friend sent me the link a few years back and so I registered.

Started using the internet back in grade 8 and have ever since. I do have a live journal but its meant to record the drunken events of myfriends and me....and one stupid girl we make fun of on msn.

I always used the internet a little bit, for research and trivia, but I never got involved with boards, groups, or messangers until later.

I started my internet life when I bought Age of Mythology, only a couple years ago. It was the first game I bothered to play multiplayer, so it became my everything. I visited aomh, and joined a clan called NoFx.
I've always been Menion, up to the INTL point.

Somewhere along the line during my role as ambassador to other clans, I came across Favored, Ressurected, or something like this. This is where I met Sunny and BA, and discovered that they were the same folks from AoMH. As my horizons expanded I just ended up talking to more people, and eventually Sunny mentioned this website called INTL. I registered, but felt a bit out of place, so didn't really post but once or twice.
Then I quit the internet all but entirely, except for a little game called "Continuum", which I play to this day under the username "Varus".

Then out of the blue Sunny messages me one day and we start up some chitter chatter, and I ended up returning to INTL.
That's about when you all first met me, and griped about me buying a prem acct to overide my "no0b" avatar.

Anyway, the rest is history, as it were.
Ok, that's good to know...

I'm pretty sure there was a unicorn involved, but you'd have to ask Sandy, he was responsible for coding the sexy flashes and such.

I started using the internet... uhh... I dunno, around the time I started to learn how to write. I barely remember not using having internet. I learned (learnt?) english because of the internet.

I found AoKH through Altavista and registered an account, and posted mostly at the Scenario Design (I never completed a scenario, mostly because AoK triggers are very limiting [and because my masterpiece, with custom AI, menus through taunts, etc was destroyed by a HDD format *sigh**sigh**sigh*]) forums, sometimes posting on OD. Then I found INTL on someone's signature on KORT.

I've been around computers since I learned to talk, but only in the past 3 years have become adept at the internet. I had used it before, but with my purchase of AoK, multiplayer introduced me to a whole new world. I wasn't really big into AoK, but when Age of Mythology came out, I loved it, found AoMH and registered there. I didn't really venture outside of AoMH for awhile, after being in several clans (Favoured, PW) and hanging out on MSN, I settled into a clan and was there for about a year and half. I began to read OD/Library/History forum, and stopped playing AoM.

Ironically enough, I found INTL by mistyping another URL, and had no idea of the connection to HG beforehand. And here I am now. I don't really visit OD anymore, just a few other forums (DDRfreak, SA where I lurk), and hang out here.

I had the internet since at least 1996. I started using it in late 1999/early 2000, when I downloaded a lot of scenarios and shit for Aoe. In 2000, I registered at Aokh and started doing stuff. And things. In 2003 someone had the link to INTL in their signature.

I also go on isonews and other worthless forums.

I started using the internet in the early 1990s with Prodigy until we switched over to AOL in 1994. My internet use was limited to academic searches on Infoseek and Lycos and reading world news and sports scores. Sometimes I'd haphazardly venture into the AOL chats, particularly Romance - Gay Bears, when I was bored.

In high school, a couple of my friends signed up with DeadJournal and told me join. I updated it a couple of times and continued to do so my first semester of college. To pass the time in between classes, I used to read random journals, and one day, I came across FA's. We talked for about a month until he invited me to join INTL (Nov 2002). I registered as Zippo279, and later on changed it to Zippo in one of Sandamnit's "Name Change" threads.

Well, most people don't fully appreciate it until they join the forums. i'm a serial-killer :)

My internet started with hanging around chatrooms when bored, then found SA.
I trolled spankmag and hung out at SA simultaneously, until I found INTL and left spank.
My time is divided three ways between SA, INTL, and this one Magic message board that is my current trolling project.

In 2003 broadband prices became more affordable so I finally got an internet subscription in August.

I found INTL through google in September when I was searching for stuff on Kazaa Lite. After adding the site to my favourites I returned to the site in october and registered. I think one of the reasons I registered was because of the playboy sign in the logo, I couldn't see anything on the index page so I thought I'd find out more if I joined - bear in mind that this was the first sites I'd seen on the internet and the brochure promised sex.

There was also that really annoying banner that wouldn't go away.

Since this was the first forum I'd seen I just assumed that other forums would have the same standards. I soon found out this wasn't the case which made me appreciate it even more.

The only other forum that I check is S.A which I registered at this year. The place is so fucking big so I don't really post a lot there because it's not as if anyone's going to remember who I am.

I've been on the internet since at least around 98/99. I came on, looking for shit about AoK. I stumbled onto AoKH, and mostly hung around ID and SD, and sometimes into the OD, but those cats were weird.

I've been in GPA, and tonto, at one time or another. One of them disintegrated and the other got old and sausage-party-ish.

Someone (I don't even remember who) invited me to join intl so that I could give them another vote in a poll thread. I registered as -scarecrow defeated- because I was angsty and wrote poetry a lot. I was a total prick for the first couple of weeks, then disappeared for a month or two. I came back, and liked the place more and more. I quickly abandoned HG, which was too juvenile and had weird moderation rules, and SPSW, who were too pretentious... And had pretty weird moderation rules, as well.

Since, I had my name changed back to Kitabatake (the name I've had since I've been on the internet, thanks AoK scen editor). I don't post a lot, but a lot of people know who I am, to one extent or another.
That's about when I met nelly, she was the village belle.

Then along came a city slicker, all finely dressed and gay.

So I'm just resting my bones a while, and then I'll be on my way.

I first ventured onto the then brand-spanking-new internet in the mid-to-early ninties, when my family got our second computer, an early Pentium. I quickly fell into games, particularly adventure games, and went venturing onto the great World Wide Web seeking hints when needed and an overall community in which to follow gaming news.

In the latter few years of that decade, I was clued into the existence of SPSW by a good friend of mine, and lurked for a while before I began posting. From there, I heard about INTL from Vervet and Dani. I checked it out, and seeing a few familiar faces from that board made me feel comfortable enough to make the jump. Still, I lurked for a while here too so as not to embarrass myself right off the bat.

I used to read mostly about computer games online, but now I barely do that anymore. I mostly use it for socializing now, via AIM or these message boards. I also use it to try to teach myself things, like how to play a certain song or how to use Photoshop or whatnot. I read SA a lot, but don't post there...yet.

My first real exposure to the Internet was in December 1997, when I was staying at a friend's house on New Year's Eve. Initially, I used the Internet for nothing more than looking up codes for videogames, which I thought was absolutely amazing, since previously I had to buy magazines to get codes for games. Anyway, he had shown me a site called MPlayer which you could play Quake and Quake 2 on. I eventually stumbled into the Teen Chat rooms using his username "DR.SANDMAN".

In April 1998, that same friend sold his computer to me for like $500, a shitty Pentium-1 200mhz, which was pretty cheap at the time. I learned how to start using computers at that point and resumed my chatting on MPlayer with his username. I lost the password and registered as "Sandm4n", since "Sandman" was taken.

One day, I mispelt my username and it ended up being "Sandamn". I thought this was a pretty cool name and rather unique, so I went ahead and start using it as my main username. A few weeks later, I was chatting on Mplayer with my new username and someone said, "damnit sandamn," and it hit me. I should change my name to "Sandamnit" and it was so.

Anyway, around mid-2001, a friend of mine and I started playing Age of Kings every single night. We were pretty equal in skill and would go back and forth between winning and losing. Then one night, I decided to go searching for AOK strategies and stumbled upon the AOKH strategies forum, where I picked up a bunch of strategies that I used against my friend to continually beat the shit out of him. I ended up registering at HG at that time.

HG was my first message board ever. From there, I ended up befriending FA and wheezy and eventually became a rather well-known forumer in Outside Discussions because of them. One day, I ventured over to the IGod and offered my services to Emp and became a webmaster and administrator at IGod. A few months later, I quit my job at IGod and a couple months later, I got drafted by Zen and became an Angel at HG.

A few months into working at HG, Zen approached me and told me that he and Spineman were interested in developing proprietary message board software for HG that utilized PHP and MySQL. Being bored, with no projects to work on at HG, without telling Zen, I began working on my own message board software, which would become INTL.

It took me two weeks to write the initial code for INTL, which I ended up putting on my school's webserver and shared with a few people, this was December 2001. When Zen got wind of this, I was pretty much told me to take it down, since it conflicted with my work at HG.

March 2002, I had a falling out with Emp and then began rewriting the code for INTL. A couple weeks later, I released INTL v2.0 which effectively slaughtered IGod's community. A few weeks later, I publicly released INTL and quit my job at HG.

Since then, I've mostly spent most of my time here and at Something Awful. The end.
"Legolas grasped onto his bodkin arrow and stroked it steadily. It was but a few moments later that Legolas would let forth a mighty war cry and shoot millions of tiny arrows into Luthien's mouth. Being the expert archer that Legolas was, not a single one of his tiny arrows missed its target."

Quoted from Sunny:
Where did you visit before you came to INTL (Ie. Spankmag, koolplace, HG, SPSW, SA)?
Koolplace, which I found from meeting a guy named Edric who co-ran the site at the time, in real life. From there, I met FISHMANPET and looked at his webpage which led me to kitabatake's and from his I found a link to INTL. I was warned by FMP about this place i'm a serial-killer :)

How did you discover INTL?
See above.

Why did you come to INTL?
Kita's webpage was the coolest thing I'd seen in a long time, so I thought his links must have cool stuff. Then when I started posting here FA flirted with me and I had to stay.

In that previous place before INTL, when did you register or what was your nickname(s)?
I don't even know when I registered there... Years ago now. my nickname was imdbest. As that was the only thing I could think of for my email at the time, which was imdbest@beer.com. When I came here I was danielle, and now it's peach.

When did you start using the internet, and why?
Sometime around grade eightish? I think? That'd be 98 or so. Why? That's kind of a retarded question. This newfangled thing comes out where you can communicate with anyone and everyone from around the globe, you can have almost any kind of information at your fingertips, it's like television in how it cures boredom but there is interaction so your brain isn't completely shut down. And there's funny stuff.

Is there anything else on the net which you have or currently spend a lot of time on?
Pretty much nothing... I barely spend any time online at all recently.
